Yoon Bae (배윤정) has created scenic and costume designs in the USA, UK, Korea, Japan, and Norway. Her many credits and awards include the winner of the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for Best Set Design 2013 for Disconnect at San Jose Rep. Best Set and Costume Awards Honor by the Arizona Republic 2014 for The Importance of Being Earnest at Arizona Theatre Company. In addition, a nomination for best scenic design, AriZoni award 2015, Anything Goes and Ain't Misbehavin' at Phoenix Theatre.
She took her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art at Middlesex University (formerly Hornsey School of Art). Yoon subsequently won a place at Royal Central School of Speech & Drama's Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Design. She later gained a Master of Arts in Fine Art (Theatre Design) from the Slade School of Fine Art at University College London.
Yoon is currently the Associate Professor of Scene Design at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Other teaching includes various institutions; Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford College, Central Saint Martins, University of Arizona, Oklahoma City University, and the University of Kentucky. She has also worked extensively with her mentor, John Napier, the inspirational designer behind multiple Broadway hits, including; Cats and Les Miserables.
Yoon is a member of British Equity, The Society of British Theatre Designers and United Scenic Artists Local USA 829 IATSE, Consortium of Asian American Theaters and Artists & Wingspace Theatrical Design.
